ROTARACT PRESIDENT REPORTS

Once again, the Amherst South sponsored Rotaract Club (Buffalo State Rotaract Club) has had an incredibly successful and rewarding semester! Collectively our amazing Buffalo State Rotaract members, officers and Amherst South Rotarians came together to participate in events in order to make a positive impact on our campus, local and international community. Our Rotaract team would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to all of the members who take time out of their days to volunteer even with their very busy schedules!
From early February through March, our members were able to participate in many fun events such as; Cookies for Canterbury, Riverkeeper Cleanup, Amherst South Rotary Bowl-a-thon, Holy Cross Head Start Cavity Free Health Fair, Ken-Ton Meals on Wheels, WNY Food Bank cooking classes just to name a few and of course our Valentine’s Day bake sale.  Some of the events we had later in the semester were the Amherst-South sponsored Habitat for Humanity Project, MS Walk, Buffalo New Kids Day with Amherst South Rotary, Buffalo State Milligan’s Food Pantry, coming soon the American Heart Association Tour de Cure, and the HOPE Haiti Raffle Basket Fundraiser.

The Rotaract team spent much of the semester putting forth our energy, time and planning to make a difference and contribute to the amazing HOPE Haiti organization. After much planning and outreach, the event which took place at Marcy Casino was a major success!  We had members of the Amherst-South Rotary attend and donate raffle items! We were able to send many of our winning guests home with beautiful gift baskets and successfully raised a whopping $3600!!  We are so excited to donate these funds to the HOPE Haiti Foundation in order to assist with the purchase of medical equipment which will benefit many residents of the Borgne Haiti community!  We would like to extend a very big thank you to all of the guests, faculty, student organizations and the Amherst South Rotarians for contributing donations and time to make this event one to remember. With all of these incredibly generous contributions, this event was made possible!

We are also very excited to welcome the new officers and await the amazing service that Rotaract will complete in the next year!  We are motivated to keep up the admirable and amazing work, we are paving the way for our service leaders of the future!
