THANK YOUS

Recently, the Dundas Valley Sunrise Rotary Club used one of its morning meetings to honour several people in the club and the community for their contributions to make the world a better place for all.

Pictured are the Paul Harris Fellow recipients - Wayne Massey, Cam Whiffey, Randy Abel, John Janisse, Ralph Montesanto, Shirley Molloy and Suzanne Crago.
Suzanne Crago and Cam Whiffey, both non-members of the club, have contributed to the development of “The Stars of Dundas” a mid-winter event featuring local talent.  Members Wayne Massey, Ralph Montesanto, Randy Abel and Shirley Molloy were presented with awards for continued contributions to the development of the club and to Rotary in general. Wayne has been active for more than 12 years, particularly in roles that involve club finance.  Ralph initiated the very successful shredding day program that the club operates twice a year; not only is this a fundraiser, but it saves individuals money on shredding and has become a “community” event. Randy brings his talents associated with his vocation (electrical expert and professor at Sheridan College) to many Rotary events.  Shirley has served as club president twice – a unique experience for the club.

Chris Grabiec and John Janisse have opened their home to many events for fundraising activities which have generated thousands of dollars for organizations like the Bob Kemp Hospice, St. James’ Anglican Church, AIDS Network and Carnegie Gallery.

Volunteerism is important to local communities; these individuals were honoured (although none expected such) as a way of saying “thank-you” for the giving of their time and talents to benefit others.

In addition, President Ross Bannatyne and Foundation Chair Shirley Molloy presented a cheque to District Governor Marlee Diehl for nearly $6000 in support of the works done by the Rotary Foundation.  This was in addition to the amount presented ($5000) when DG Marlee came to visit the club last fall.
