SCHOLARS APPLY NOW $4K US

Area students who are currently enrolled in their first year of full-time post-secondary education are invited to submit the Rotary District 7090 Grants Scholarship Application before December 31, 2017.

The scholarship amount is $4,000 US. The permanent address of applicants must be within the boundaries of Rotary District 7090, which includes Chautauqua County.
The student must be enrolled in his/her first year of full time post-secondary study at a university, college or community college anywhere in the world. Due to Rotary’s conflict of interest policy, this award cannot be given to a Rotarian, a spouse or lineal descendant of such, etc. This general scholarship, which is open to any area of study, must be used towards full time post-secondary university, college or community college education. After committee review, the scholarship will be awarded to the one successful applicant by January 31, 2018.

This $4,000 US scholarship will be based on the criteria of academic merit; an essay that reflects the applicant’s demonstration of “Service Above Self”; and an essay about the ideals of Rotary. All eligible students must submit the scholarship application to their local Rotary Club as soon as possible and prior to December 31.

Each applicant must submit the following: the completed Rotary District 7090 Grants Application that is signed by the president of a local Rotary Club and also by a sponsoring Rotarian; two essays (Ideals of Rotary; Service Above Self); community service records; copy of the applicant’s high school diploma; the applicant’s final transcript from high school; a letter of admission to a college or university; college or university fall semester transcript and any documents that may strengthen the application; best and complete contact information on the application; and upon selection, provide a copy of the college or university’s fall and spring tuition bills.

The local Rotary Club remains the point of contact for the applicants. It must approve the scholar and submit the application with its club endorsement to the Rotary District 7090 Grants Scholarships Committee. A local Rotary Club can have as many qualified applicants as they can find, provided the applicants meet the eligibility requirements.
