A DUNNVILLE CHRISTMAS

For an event that was not going to happen again it is sure has left guests feeling just as cheery as previous tours and left a buzz in the air for the weeks to follow. The Dunnville Christmas House Tour was taken over by the Rotary Club of Dunnville.  Rotarian Adam Heeg just had to see this tour happen again. The tour has taken place several times over the years with the intention to raise awareness of the great little town several thousand people call home and give surrounding communities something great to say about Dunnville, and did they ever have something to say! Comments such as, “You just gave the big city tours competition!”.  And, “Each home was so unique with a different décor and theme.”
This year the proceeds were donated to the Haldimand War Memorial Hospital ER project.  A whopping total of $6275 CND. The idea of the tour is to bring you into a different level of home showmanship, each home was decorated to the fullest by the home owners.  Unlike similar tours that are decorated professionally, you truly get a sense of how these families celebrate the Holiday Season. With the age of all the homes adding up an accumulated 539 years, you felt the exuberance that abides in these homes. Homes that have seen complete overhauls, others still speak to the times gone by. With homeowners at a variety of ages you have a different take on all the styles and trends of Christmas, there was even the spectacular Lionel Train set up in one of the homes with working trains and the scenery of Canada from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland. Part of the theme was to find homes that would celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial, with homes dating from 1969 to 1875. Rotarian Adam Heeg is already in the works of planning for another Christmas House tour.
