FREE DROP-IN EDUCATIONAL SERIES

The Rotary Club of Lincoln had an awesome turnout for the first of four-speaker series on January 11, 2023. The four sessions are discussions around native plants and gardens to help sustain native wildlife and biodiversity.
Gardening professional Sean James led us through a discussion around the design and building of the Val Fleming Butterfly Garden at the back of Rotary Park in the Town of Lincoln, Ontario. With much humour and knowledge, he gave tips on designing and maintaining our own butterfly gardens.

Looking forward to the second talk in the series that will take place on February 8th at the Fleming Centre, Conservation in Nature: Experiencing Nature in Your Own Backyard.  The series is brought to you by the Rotary Club of Lincoln Environmental Committee in partnership with the Town of Lincoln, Niagara Native Garden Club and the Lincoln Pelham Public Library.

DESIGN AWARD FOR ROTARY PARK

Lincoln Rotarians attended the Niagara Region Biennial Awards regarding architecture and landscaping excellence January 17, 2023 on invitation from the Town of Lincoln, Ontario. Our project - the Rotary Park in Beamsville - was one of the winners, winning an Outstanding Achievement Award in the Landscaping Architecture category.

The Rotary Park in Beamsville was a multi-year project and was completed in 2022 with the Grand Opening held on June 2022.  The park received the award for the “Thoughtful design and programming that includes age-friendly and accessible amenities that were of paramount importance for this destination park.” Amenities include a skate park and pump track, play areas, structures and fitness equipment, way-finding and educational signage and an outdoor learning area featuring the Rotary Club’s Little Lending Library among many more. A true legacy project for the Rotary Club of Lincoln.
