IMPRESSIVE MILLENIAL

Two for one!  That is an appropriate description of the recognition recently bestowed upon Leah Bisson, Akron Newstead Rotary Board officer.  The Paul Harris Fellow Recognition and club Rotarian of the Year awards were presented to Leah by President Andy Borden and recognize the absolutely impactful and excellent Rotary work Leah has done.  This impact has been felt both operationally and strategically and has made Akron Newstead better.

How did this impressive Millenial become involved in Rotary?
Well, when you have Julie Klotzbach as your mother it isn’t surprising.  Julie is a Rotarian extraordinaire in many ways including a club Past President, Board Officer, project leader, etc. which have resulted in numerous recognitions.  It was logical that Julie’s passion to help people was shared by Leah.  Leah’s first Rotary experience was her high school’s Interact Club where she served a number of terms as President.  When asked what attracted her to Rotary Leah said “I’m passionate about helping community and felt Rotary is about that.  I want to leave the world a better place.”

This aligns with Leah’s immediate plans that include currently doing graduate work at King’s College in London, England where she is majoring in emerging economies and international development.  After King’s, Leah will look for an opportunity in a developing country with a non-profit organization. Wherever that takes her she’ll find a Rotary club.   Leah said that’s definite.

Best wishes for continued success, Leah.
