CHALLENGE ISSUED

The Rotary clubs of Akron-Newstead and Clarence have had a fun, long standing rivalry which has involved some sort of yearly competition between the two clubs.  Previously, there have been challenges with bocce, dodgeball, bowling and skeet shooting - just to name a few!  It’s always done in the spirit of fun and fellowship, and while both clubs have each won different competitions, we can’t say that winning has always passed the 4-Way Test!!

However, this year, Akron-Newstead has upped the ante a bit by issuing a challenge to Clarence Rotary - to see who can raise more money to donate to the meal packaging event taking place this fall at the District Conference. Clubs are encouraged to make a donation in exchange for meals which can then be given back to a local food pantry in their area.

“Our Club may be smaller then Clarence, but I believe our hearts are bigger than our Clarence counterparts!” said Akron-Newstead President Paul Muck.  “We have issued a challenge to our fellow Rotarians in the Clarence club to see who can make the bigger donation to this worthwhile cause.”

While there are no real losers in this situation, the bragging rights with this particular challenge will be priceless this upcoming year - as our clubs and members interact socially all year long! Even more importantly, two communities will benefit from the donation of food to fill their pantry shelves.

So we have to ask… do YOU have a Club that you’d like to challenge?
