A GIVING CELEBRATION

The Rotary Club of Amherst recently celebrated the Centennial of The Rotary Foundation by providing and distributing 100 turkeys, turkey breasts, and chicken roasters for complete holiday dinners for 148 families in the town of Amherst through the Town Square Food Pantry that is located on North Forest Road next to the Weinberg Campus.

Co-sponsors of the annual Thanksgiving distribution were the Food Bank of Western New York, Catholic Charities, Temple Beth Zion, The UB Newman Center and Dash's Market.  This was a great example of a partnership between Rotary and various community organizations that brought Rotary in the limelight in the town of Amherst.  All the members of the club participated in the project through donations and volunteer hours to assemble and distribute the food packages over a two-week period.
