CELEBRATING 100

Amherst South Rotary recently celebrated the 100th Anniversary of The Rotary Foundation with a Paul Harris Fellow Awards Dinner held at Milo's Restaurant.  
 
Organized by members, Sandy Nobel and Shefali Clerk, the dinner celebrated also the contributions of numerous individuals and businesses in the community who helped them over the years with our many community service projects.  
 
With Guy Marlette emceeing the event and District Foundation Chair Karen Oakes assisting, the club awarded the distinguished Paul Harris Fellows to the following recipients:  About Time Clock Emporium, Amherst Collision Service, Dr. Harnath Clerk, Dr. Madhav Deshmukh, Dietrich Funeral Home, Fogel Agency, Furs by Russell, Barbara Goodman, Dr., Jasbeer Makhija, David Ponkow,  and Rita Sabharwal. 
 
Also honored member Rotarian, Dr. Surjit Singh for all his numerous contributions.  He is a Paul Harris + one recipient.  Receiving a special award for community service leadership was Kathy Mobarak-Miller for her work with the Amherst Youth Board, and to Mary Diana Pouli for her work with the Amherst Youth and Recreation Department. 
 
Jim Morabito, Chair of the District 7090 Paul Harris Society, punctuated the evening reminding all who attended just what the valuable contributions made by the honorees meant to all those who have been helped by Rotary.  It was quite a special night, and it was an impressive reminder of how a community can come together to do great things for those in need!!
