ANNUAL YOUTH EXCHANGE PICNIC
The two Rotary Clubs of Ancaster held their annual Exchange Student picnic on Sunday August 2 to celebrate the return of Madi Fergusson (on left) from her year in Spain, the returning to Belgium for Clemence Streel (middle) after spending a year in Ancaster, and Brooke Harmer (on right) who will be leaving for a year in Australia later this month.
Clemence (Clem) just returned from the across US trip and was preparing to return home later in the week. Emotions were high with the presentation of gifts and Clem’s goodbye’s speech. But the weather was sunny and bright, the pot luck lunch was tasty, and the cake was delicious for the 40 members and their spouses.
The Ancaster Rotary Club and the Ancaster Rotary AM club has shared an exchange student program for several years. This cooperation between clubs has given at least 20 young persons their “dream” year of travel and life experience.
