AREA 1 DIPS IN FOR POLIO

When Rotarians join forces and challenge for a worthy cause, great things happen. Look how easy it is to raise funds for polio eradication.

Lisa Bishop, President of the “small but mighty” Delhi Rotary, challenged the Simcoe and Norfolk Sunrise clubs to raise funds for polio eradication.  But there was a catch – the challenge also involved plunging into the frigid waters of Lake Erie on New Year’s Day in the annual Polar Bear Dip.

The other two clubs accepted the challenge, sort of.  The “small but mighty” Delhi club swamped the other two clubs, but together they raised over $7,000 for polio eradication.   When matched by bo50h the Government of Canada and by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, that $7,000 of local donations multiplies to over $35,000 for the Polio Plus Campaign.

Everybody wins!  Thanks to Lisa for the challenge, and for enticing Pete Wheatley into the water with you.
