PROJECT IS REALISED

The Rotary Club of Batavia was pleased to receive a recent update on a long term project between the club and a local Methodist missionary group.  Children benefiting from the project can be seen in the thank you photo (left) where they issued a heart shaped thank you for the support provided by the club.
The project they support is in Nicaraugua and funding is handled through TMS Global.  The club pursued an arduous process to ensure that the equipment purchased would reach its final destination and be used by the people most in need.

The regions most in need of assistance are many miles away from larger cities and communities.  The major needs of the area were for education, healthcare, water/sanitation, technology as well as power.

The final destination can only be reached by boat therefore it was quite an undertaking but successful as can be seen in the photos.  The club was able to assist with equipment for classrooms, the dental clinic and lavatories for schools that were built by the local community. Sewing machines were also sent to enable training for local people to begin the development of entrepreneurial businesses and to become more financially independent.  Solar power has been installed to insure that the technology supplied would be operable and beneficial. Engaging the local community leaders has been key in making this a successful project.

The Rotary Club of Batavia was able to view a video of the children swinging on a new swing set and we could hear their laughter and squeals of delight.  We look forward to hearing more about this project and offering support as we can throughout the coming years.

Thanks to Paul Saskowski for leading the way on this project since 2015.
