HANDS ON WITH HABITAT BUFFALO

On August 8th, members of the Rotary of Club of the BNMC worked on two adjoining Habitat Buffalo building sites. These members launched the club’s commitment to the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity, promising to provide volunteers for construction sites on the second Saturday of each month.

This first endeavor offered an opportunity to work on new builds, both designated as special houses. One was a Veteran Build, underwritten by the General Motors Foundation. Veterans are encouraged to apply for this house. The other is the “Pope Francis” Build. An anonymous donor gifted Habitat Buffalo with $60,000, and challenged the community to raise the remaining $40,000 to build a new home in honor of the current pope.

The Rotary BNMC membership had previously identified Habitat as a favored recipient for service projects via a survey conducted by the Service Projects Committee last year. The club is looking forwarding to helping Habitat Buffalo complete these two new builds, as well as working on other houses in the future.
