Rick Shaver received an award for his efforts and driving force behind Brantford’s Military Museum since 1995. Rick believes that, “If you don’t look at your past you have no future”. Elsie Hankinson generously donated her lottery winnings to create a family foundation that benefits the Brantford Hospital, Crossing All Bridges, Habitat for Humanity and Kids Can Fly, and donated $1 M to establish the hospice, Hankinson House. Waterous Holden Amey Hitchon LLP partners and staff have given their time and support to their community for 95 years and continue to do so. Their contributions include but are not limited to the Rotary Club, United Way, Habitat for Humanity, Brant Waterways Foundation, Paris Parks Foundation, Boys & Girls Club of Brantford, Lansdowne Children’s Center, YMCA, Alzheimer’s Society, Brant Foundation for Persons with Developmental Needs, Participation House, Brant Community Health Care Foundation and Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers.

The inspiring evening concluded with Bruce Croxon’s accounts of his experiences. The creation of Lavalife, the company he cofounded, his appearances on the television programs Dragon’s Den and The Disruptors, and the balance between his professional life as founder of Round13, a company which invests in growth stage digital companies, and his personal and family life. Bruce gives particular importance to the visions and values required to grow organizations in a fast-moving business environment.
