ROTARIAN VISITS FROM INDIA

After a tour of the new Federal Courthouse in Buffalo on April 23, Rotarian Ginny Parsons escorted visiting Rotarian from India, Ragini Srinivas to City Hall.

Ginny says, "We had a nice time...we visited with the Treasurer of the City, Mike Seaman and the Director of Neighborhood Watch Program, Richard Lee.  Rich gave us a tour of the City Hall Observation Deck with humorous incite and anecdotes.  He has worked at city hall for many years and has some interesting stories. Our guest was amazed at the city plan....concentric circles, like DC and Paris....you can see the streets radiating off from Shelton Square."

Ginny continues, "We, of course, pointed out all of the historic and architectural gems of the city but were unable to visit them as it was too cold and she was not prepared for the temperature. Her daughter is studying at UB, a masters program in microbiology....I think. The daughter has applied for a job in New Jersey at a major pharmaceutical company.  Ragini Srinivas's club has 40 some members, 11 of which are women and she is the president elect. I think she got a great feeling of warmth from our club and in our short time together she had a fine intro into the beautiful sites and history of Buffalo   We  also met with 2 councilmen, who chatted with us and helped us out in City Hall...  that was a real bonus!  I love to take people around the city and have some knowledge of the history etc...we were lucky to run into Mike, Rich and the council members....they all made a great impression. Interestingly, her daughter has seldom come to downtown, so all of our info was new and she will share it with her daughter. She took lots of  pictures.”
