BIKES & MORE

On August 21,2021 Rotary Club of Buffalo Sunrise hosted their second Annual Bike Collection and Cleaning event. This is the template with image at the left side and floating text on the right side.

Two members of the club, Denis Lefebvre (pictured left) and Maria Neudecker (pictured right) started the bike collection event last year when they noticed how many bikes were being dumped that could be salvaged and donated to youth and children in underserved and low-income communities to use as a mean of transportation.

Building on last year’s success, this year did not disappoint either. The momentum could be felt as 80 bikes were collected and cleaned by club members. Repaired bikes will be donated to GObike Buffalo, Genesee Wellness Center, St. Luke’s Missionary, Jericho Road Community Health Center, and Journey's End Refugee Services.

YES, THAT'S A SHARK SUIT

In June, Rotary Club of Buffalo Sunrise hosted a clean-up of the Jesse Kregal Pathway alongside Scajaquada Creek.

Over twenty volunteers, including representatives from Grant-Amherst Business Association, GObike Buffalo, Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, SUNY Buffalo College and the City of Buffalo attended the event.

The group collected 14 bags of garbage in total.  Some of the items collected included over 750 cigarette butts, 72 plastic bags, 55 bottle caps, 45 food wrappers, 40 styrofoam pieces, 35 masks and gloves, 10 balloons, and fishing line.  In addition, we also collected some interesting items; a shark wet suit and a police badge! Rotary Club of Buffalo Sunrise is thrilled to bring community partners together to be stewards for our local waterways."
