CLUBS ADOPT A TRAIL

On August 25, Rotary Club of Buffalo Sunrise members joined with other Rotary clubs in a Bike/Walk event celebrating our collaboration on the Adopt-A -Trail program along the Niagara River Greenway. Signs noting clubs’ participation will be installed at each end of a club’s segment.

Rotary clubs involved are Buffalo, Buffalo Sunrise, BNMC, Lockport, Grand Island, Niagara Wheatfield, Niagara Falls, NY, Lewiston-Niagara-on-the-Lake and Kenmore and Satellite club - Tonawandas. Over the past four years, District 7090 clubs along the Niagara River have taken the lead in this cleanup and enhancement effort and now several corporations along the river are joining in. Each club decides on their level of engagement and now there are benches, bike repair stations, trees and garden areas, all with attractive Rotary signage.

Rotarians  and others pictured include Co-President Kofi Fynn-Aikens, Denis Lefebvre, Gerry Kelly (RC Buffalo), Barbara Ochterski (RC Buffalo Sunrise), PDG Kevin Crosby (RC Buffalo Sunrise), Michelle Lockett  (Satellite RC Tonawandas), NYS Senator Sean Ryan.

Other participants: Paul Lehman and Dave Greenfield (Lockport), Tom Gerbasi (Lewiston-Niagara-on-the-Lake) PDG Wally Ochterski (West Seneca), Kathy Piske and Brian Ibsen (both Buffalo Sunrise)
