District Governor's July Message

Once again, a new Rotary year is upon us with new leaders, new ideas, and new challenges. I offer my congratulations to our new leaders, especially those who have taken on this role at the Club level. Rotary International is an association of Clubs. It is the local Club which is the building block of all that we do, locally and internationally. The District exists to support the Clubs. It is one of my goals this year to reinforce that relationship.

As I visit Clubs, it is readily apparent the important role they play in their communities. From helping those in need to improving the quality of life, the local Rotary Club is an important component.

While working tirelessly in their local communities, many of our Clubs are also working hard to support the goals of The Rotary Foundation, our foundation. Through their contributions, District 7090 Rotarians are helping to alleviate hunger, promote literacy, improve water and sanitation for those in need, and improve maternal and child health. Last year District Rotarians contributed an average of almost $125 per member while at the same time financially supporting the effort to eradicate polio. During my visits, Clubs are sharing their plans for improving on their already stellar efforts in supporting The Rotary Foundation and Polio Plus.

I wish to thank all who are involved in one or more of our five avenues of service. Your efforts are what make our District strong. Your efforts are improving the lives of those around you. Your efforts are moving us toward true world peace. Thank you.

Yours in Rotary,

John P. Heise
