APRIL IS MAGAZINE MONTH

The Rotarian magazine is our link to the current news and happenings of Rotarians around the world, and Rotary International headquarters.  I encourage all of you to not only read this great magazine and to share the knowledge gained from this reading with other club members (have a quiz and see who is up to date on the latest issue contents), but also to recycle the magazines in hot spots in your community for others to read about the good works of Rotarians.

Of special note is the March 2011 issue which contains a quick reference guide section on Future Vision.  Future Vision is The Rotary Foundation's plan to support humanitarian and educational projects effective for all clubs and districts in July 2013.   At a recent Rotary Club of Simcoe, Ontario meeting Rotarian John Featherstone brought his copy of the March 2011 Rotarian to the podium to remind his fellow club members that this new model is coming, and to encourage everyone to read this timely piece  to build awareness of the exciting changes coming to The Rotary Foundation.  I encourage all of you to review this guide in preparation for the opportunities coming our way.  Of course, many other resource items are available for purchase at shop.rotary.org with a few noted below:

  • The Rotarian 100th Anniversary Collector's Edition
  • The Remarkable Mr. Harris
  • Amazing Stories of Polio

I encourage you to take a look at the shop rotary website and see what offerings there might be of interest to you and your fellow Rotarians.

I continue to be humbled by the many acts of goodwill and kindness that our Rotarians in 7090 undertake and complete to make our communities and our world a better place for all to enjoy.  YOU make a difference in the lives of those you touch with your time and talents, thank YOU for being a Rotarian.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Karen L. Oakes
