Our Doors are Open in Norfolk!

As I travel around the district visiting clubs, and enjoying special Rotary gatherings, I am inviting everyone to attend our upcoming District 7090 Conference - September 24 - 26, 2010.  As in prior years, this conference will showcase Rotary programs and projects by both inspirational speakers, and an outstanding House of Friendship.

Every club in our district contributes in a powerful way, both financially and in "sweat equity" undertakings, to build our communities, locally and internationally.  Please reserve your space at the House of Friendship to showcase your club's best venture in one of the 5 Avenues of Rotary Service.  Please work with your Club President to bring your ROTARY Service project to the Conference, and register as soon as possible to ensure that you are not disappointed, as all venues are first come. And yes, our doors are open in Norfolk, we want you and your family to join us in Delhi-Simcoe, and as outlined on the website under District Events (right hand side of the home page, click on the District Conference link), we are offering a variety of lodging considerations, including home hosting, RV camping, and terrific local Bed and Breakfast sites.   Join in the fun and fellowship!  See YOU there!

The Official Visits are underway, and to date, we have visited 16 of the 73 clubs in our District.  Thank you cannot begin to express the appreciation that Wolfgang and myself feel for the generous hospitality shown to us by club Presidents, and members, Assistant Governors, and indeed, communities.  I am so hono(u)red to note the efforts put forth to personalize the meetings with members wearing their own special ties, pins, and Rotary apparel, thank you.  Your communities that you represent speak highly of each of the Rotary clubs that we have visited, as they should, as we view firsthand the work undertaken in the name of Rotary. Your signage to reflect your Rotary Club is most noted and appreciated.  The contributions to the Rotary Foundation Annual Programs Fund and to Polio Plus that you present at the official visit are filed with Rotary International in a timely manner with my sincere thanks.  The personal gifts of our time together are not expected, and when received, hold a special memory of our time together.  I will not be sending an extensive letter, however I am sending a personal note to the President and the members to acknowledge our time together.  Our Assistant Governor team is stellar in their efforts to be there for each of their clubs, and I continue to encourage the participation of club leadership in all the area meetings.

In closing, I thank you for being a Rotarian in District 7090, and until our paths cross in Rotary work, be safe, my friends.
