GOVERNOR'S FEBRUARY MESSAGE

It is such a humbling experience to visit clubs and see the positive impact each and every one of you have within your local communities, and the many updates on collaborative local and international projects that are hard to see, as they are often far away. As members of Rotary International, our service to international projects is close to our hearts, though not seen by us, as we care for others far away.

Wow, so much is going on in our district! This newsletter and club & district social media feed is jam packed with stories of your impact through service in Rotary. Check it out! Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or our district website https://rotary7090.org/

Thank-you, everyone! Our Best of Friends District really is like one big family!

Our membership is growing! I am so honoured to witness many NEW Member inductions. We are now at over 1,900 members. Clubs are fully engaged in outreach community service and fun socials that include families.

Mid Winter Blahs…Visit your Rotary Neighbours. Please take the time to check out neighbouring clubs, and jump onboard to attend a different club meeting, hear a speaker that perks your interest, learn about a service project you also feel passionate about, engage your family members and mentor volunteerism. Go with another club member, or bring a friend to introduce them to Rotary. Every club has their unique culture and special message of Rotary. By meeting other clubs you experience more in The Family of Rotary.

In Rotary, We Care… “We Hold Hope til others can Hold Hope for themselves”.  I am so impressed with how members and their families are taking to heart, RI President Jennifer Jones key message of “Care and Concern for Members and Our Families”. We really are a Family of Rotary, and by showing kindness, we support peace and build good will as “We Live Our Life in Rotary”. This IS what we do in Rotary. More and more people are being attracted to a culture of kindness, simply helping. In Rotary we have the opportunity to serve as able, and make a difference each and every day. I am full of Rotary cliches, but, I have to say…”In Rotary we IMAGINE what we can do, and we do it”. I see these actions carried out by all of you, and I am often brought to tears. The tears are my witness of your compassion, and your call to action.

Celebrate District 7090:  District Conference April 15-22, 2023 - Yes, the first in person District Conference in 3 years.  This week was chosen to centre around Earth Day and The Great Lakes Watershed Cleanup on April 22. Please consider canceling your regular club meeting that week and commit club energy to attend some sessions. The main in person event is Saturday April 15.

It is week long celebration of both in person and virtual gathering of the D7090 Family of Rotary. We will showcase the good work in D7090, and the opportunities to engage in new Rotary Service projects, locally & internationally. Most of all, we are going to have FUN, Be Together,  Inspire, and leave INSPIRED. Please watch for upcoming notices on our website, social media, and email to all members.
