VISITING ROTARY HEADQUARTERS

In late July, District Director of Training PDG Ralph Montesanto and I traveled to RI Headquarters in Evanston, Illinois for a two and a half day Multi District President Elect Alliance meeting.  We were the first attendees from Canada for this sold out meeting and were impressed with the level of knowledge possessed by the representatives of the various regions.  We were also impressed by the fact that one MDPETS session had trained more than 800 president elects in California and another in Texas - over 500.

We learned a lot from our American colleagues and now have access to two pages of links for every type of information through the Alliance, including rated speakers from their sessions which will benefit our future club presidents.  We are hoping to sell our MDPETS partner trainers from District 7070 and District 7080, on joining us as regular attendees at this session each year.  Here I am pictured with our founder, Paul Harris.

Evanston is a beautiful, clean city, just north of Chicago and is home to Northwest University and Rotary International.  Excellent commuter travel is available and is much more pleasant to use than the automobile when visiting the windy city.  Rotary's world headquarters is definitely worth a visit, particularly the top floor where both the RI President and RI President Elect have their offices.  The view is fantastic!   Also on this floor is Rotary recognition, especially of the donors to the Arch Klumph Society.  If you are ever in the Chicago area, make sure you visit Evanston and RI's head office!
