SHREDDING THE COVID WAY

Dundas Valley Sunriseā€™s Fall Shredding Day was another success. Following COVID-19 rules, Rotarians Ken Beel and Derek Price set up the lot at Eccles Auto Service in Dundas to safely direct and space arriving vehicles.

Drivers stayed in their cars or trucks with masks on as they paid. Club volunteers, also wearing masks unload and dumped the boxes into large bins to be wheeled to the shredding truck. 45 full bins totaling 4880 kilograms (10736 pounds) of paper were shredded saving over 100 trees. The empty boxes were taken to the local recycling transfer station.

With club fundraising cut considerably this year the Shredding Day served as both a community service project as well as one of the few ways the club is raising funds.
