A ROTARY HERITAGE

There may be nothing “really” special about a new baby ... but this one, born on the 25th of November ... comes with a definite Rotary heritage.

Everleigh Lori Elesia Turner is the first daughter of Rotarian Ryan Turner and his Rotarian wife, Nicole Turner.  She is also the first granddaughter of Lori King and Russell King, also both Rotarians. And ... Everleigh is the first great-granddaughter of Canon Robert Morrow, currently the Coordinator of Assistant Governors in District 7090. All are members of the Rotary Club of Dundas Valley Sunrise.

Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, great-grandpa and even non-Rotarian Lynne Morrow, the great-grandma - are doing fine! Oh, yes, and the baby is doing well, too.

NEW MEMBER HAS AN IDEA

The Dundas Valley Sunrise Rotary Club engaged in a new community service project this year by collecting Sox, skivvies, mitts, hats, and scarves for those in need in the Dundas - Ancaster - Hamilton area.  The project was the brainchild of the club's new member, Nancy Baker; Nancy got five other Rotarians to assist and coordinated the effort which was a HUGE success in its first year.

The boxes were donated for use for the project with assistance from Russ Powers, and they were located in several venues throughout the town and in Ancaster. The results were incredible - twenty bags of new clothes were delivered to a variety of social service agencies in the area - much needed as we were approaching the winter season and the cold weather.  Great assistance was provided by President Kathy Starodub, Past President Barbara Busing, and International Services Chair Alexis Wenzowski. Hopefully, the effort will be duplicated again next year and will gain traction in the community as an example of “Service Above Self”.
