CALEDONIA ROTARIAN SPEAKS TO DUNNVILLE

Recently, on January 15, the Rotary Club of Dunnville received a visit from Jim Aldridge of the Rotary Club of Caledonia.  Jim’s presentation was very informative and encouraging in the area of fundraising.  He spoke of the importance of purpose and commitment when setting up fundraising events.  There were many great ideas for getting people interested, committed and helping out with our next fundraising event.

DUNNVILLE ROTARY'S FREE FAMILY DAY FUN

On February 16 about 325 people walked through the doors of the Lifespan Centre at the Dunnville Arena between 2 and 5pm for Dunnville Rotary’s Free Family Day Fun!  Dunnville Rotary provided good food: chili or soup with a dinner roll, and coffee/hot chocolate or juice to drink for the many families who enjoyed this special even and to sponsors: Debb Davies Catering, Flyer’s Café and Tim Horton’s!

There were free activities provided as well which included making a family handprint wreath, or a couple of different colouring sheets.  Haldimand County provided large scale, interactive games, and two employees to supervise them who were kept very busy by the children who were enjoying them.  They also provided giant Jenga blocks which were a big hit with the older children.

All in all this day was a huge success with many community members stopping a Rotarian to thank them for a wonderful addition to the free skate that was held at the arena.  This really raised the profile of Dunnville Rotary in a very positive way and the club anticipates making this an annual community event.
