POLIO UPDATE

By now we have all had opportunity to review RI President John Germ's message, expecting Rotary's finest achievement so far - the last case of Polio - during this Rotary year.

It is with heartfelt regret that we learned of two new cases of polio in northeastern Nigeria, dashing those hopes.  However, we can't stop now. Until eradication has been confirmed by the World Health Organization, vaccination of all new children and environmental testing must be continued, and with a high level of competence.

Rotary and Rotarians are very important to the success of this project.  With that in mind would all Clubs please be reminded that Polio contribution goals should be submitted.  The Rotary Foundation's Club recognition level for PolioPlus continues this year at US$1500, and that will be a factor in your Club's Presidential Citation.  We encourage you to attain the reminiscent $2650 level in honour of the Rotary Foundation's Centennial.

We are counting on your continued generosity.
