NEW MEETING STRATEGY

In keeping with our new Rotary meeting strategy designed to promote membership, the Rotary Club of Fonthill joined with the Rotary Club of Welland for a morning walk at St. John’s Conservation Park on Saturday, September 12.  The new strategy is to venture out to explore an interesting part of our town and region for some exercise, to commune with nature and/or to support a community event several times a month in lieu of the regular Wednesday meeting.  There will still be two Wednesday morning meetings monthly, one with a guest speaker and one for general business.

The club’s second event as part of the new strategy was a Club Service Event helping with renovations at the new home of one of our members.  Rotarian Meghan and her husband Alex were expecting a new baby and were under pressure to prepare their home.  Happily, Meghan and Alex have delivered a healthy baby boy, Declan.

On October 8th club members met at the Pelham Farmer’s Market for its final evening this year.  This was followed by a cocktail social on a local restaurant patio.

On October 24th we supported the Inaugural Dr. Ron Mergl Memorial Participate for Polio 2020!  Club members were pleased to prepare snacks and then to rally along the route of this amazing event to support the vision of District Governor Frank Adamson.  Thanks to many Rotarians who with their clubs helped organize and contribute to this World Polio Day event.  Upwards of $500,000 has been raised when matching contributions are factored in.  More detail as well as a photo album of the central event and events run by clubs in their own communities are available on the District 7090 Website and Facebook Page.
