A BUSY & PRODUCTIVE DECEMBER

The Rotary Club of Fonthill showcases its busy fall/winter activities on its website with three great stories leading up to the launch of the New Year 2022.

Eight Pelham Citizens Become PH Fellows

Nov 30, 2021: On Monday November 29, for the first time in over two years, the Rotary Club of Fonthill hosted an in-person Paul Harris celebration dinner.  Held at Lookout Point Country Club and attended by nearly 70 Rotarians, friends, family and community members, the event allowed the club to honour and recognize the community service and commitment of a number of individuals.

Posthumous awards went to three local politicians who died while the club was not holding awards dinners.  The late Gary Accursi, Mike Ciolfi and Ron Leavens were all honoured for their service to our community.  Pictured (L to R): Jennifer Allen, David Schulz, Michele Ciolfi, Karen Leavens, David Weeks, Mall Accursi, Michael Accursi, Fred Arbour, Vilma Moretti.

Niagara Rotaract Food4Kids Food-drive/Fundraiser Supported

Dec 15, 2021: The Rotary Club of Fonthill and the Niagara Rotaract Club are very excited to initiate a food and fundraising drive, in support of Food4Kids Niagara.  Food4Kids Niagara provides packages of healthy food for children up to 14 years with limited or no access to food each weekend.   Currently they are meeting the needs of 450 children in 27 schools throughout the Niagara Region, with many more schools on the waiting list. This fundraiser runs from December 27, 2021 through to March 31, 2022!

Crossley Interact Spreads Holiday Cheer

Dec 17, 2021: Thanks to the leadership of the Interact Club of E.L. Crossley and with support from the Rotary Club of Fonthill, nearly 20 families in Niagara will get to have a festive table of food and gifts to share.

The Interact Club with the Crossley Students’ Council, encouraged their home rooms classes to adopt families in need as identified by the Salvation Army.  Staff, students and Crossley families purchased gifts for the children and non-perishable food items for the family.  Many also included gifts and treats for the parents/grandparents.  Gift cards for local grocery stores will help families to purchase the remaining items needed for a festive dinner.
