VISIT FROM DG

Recently, Fort Erie received it's Official Club Visit from District Governor Marlee Diehl.  She brought greetings from the other 68 clubs in Niagara, and told the Rotarians gathered about a new club, Rotary Club of Hamilton at 5 😄 (aka Tonic at 5), and the closing of the Rotary Club of Tonawanda after 99 years of Service 😢.

DG Marlee also brought greetings from RI President John Germ (Tennesee), and explained his personal history with Polio and our collective Rotary 'this close' goal to eradicate Polio from the Earth (success in Afghanistan but setback in Nigeria, 2 war torn countries).  She discussed this year's motto "Rotary Serving Humanity" and the 100th anniversary of the 1917 founding of The Rotary Foundation with a donation of US$26.50 by Arch Klumpf.

The club presented DG Marlee with a cheque for CA$750 (matched by the Gates Foundation) toward End Polio Now = US$58 apiece.

Then, she and husband Bill (sorry no photo of him who served as photographer!) were on their way to visit Rotary in Leroy NY at noon. Busy people, who are living examples of our Rotary motto 'Service Above Self'!
