RAISE FOR ROTARY, A SUCCESSFUL NEW FUNDRAISING TOOL

Last year, The Rotary Foundation (TRF), announced a new online tool, “Raise for Rotary”, that gives individuals a new way to raise fund to support The Rotary Foundation, including Polio Plus.

You can personally use this tool to encourage your family and friends to donate to The Rotary Foundation in general or a particular Area of Focus that is important to you.  Many Rotarians have been using this new tool to suggest to family and friends to donate instead of sending presents for birthdays, anniversaries, challenge, memorial, a new grandchild or special events like congratulating a child for learning to ride a bike.  The ideas are endless!

You create your own fundraising pages that are easy to share through social media and email so your network of family, friends, colleagues and neighbors can contribute. The secure website accepts credit card payments, and you receive notices that donations were made so you can quickly thank donors. Members of Rotary and Rotaract who give are eligible to receive Paul Harris credit and recognition.  Your family and friends receive an email with the charitable donation receipt as well.

It is as simple as choosing your occasion, choosing which area of The Rotary Foundation you wish to support, and inspiring your community and family on https://raise.rotary.org/ and then sharing.  Pictures help tell your story.

IPDG Frank was one of the first to get on board and started a fundraising page for the 2020 Ride for Polio.  What a success it became! Many Rotarians in the ride also created their own personal page and linked together with Frank’s. We were all excited to be able to post on our personal and club social media platforms, as well as letters were sent to friends and family  asking to support our polio ride with a simple link for them to donate.  No longer did we have to ask and collect money, it was all done for us.  It was an overwhelming success with many Rotarians commenting how many of their friends and their friends donated amounts from $10  and many larger amounts, too.  It was one of the many reasons for our District’s success in our Polio donations last year of $196,136. Yes we will be using it again this year on our October 2 Polio Ride.

Imagine, if 100 Rotarians in our District 7090 raised $500 each that would be $50,000, to do good in the world!
