Mr. Barone also described how he came to be involved in the newly acquired team and his first meeting on site at the owner’s enterprise, MKE Sports and Entertainment, which owns in addition to the Jammers, a sports complex in Milwaukee, a professional indoor soccer team called the Milwaukee Wave, at least one other Prospect League team called the Kokomo Jackrabbits and an independent minor league team called the Rockford Aviators.   The new owner of the team is entrepreneur, Michael Zimmerman.   Mr. Zimmerman has built several successful healthcare companies.  His dream venture, MKE Sports & Entertainment, was formed in the spring of 2014.  The Jamestown Jammers is one his newest acquisitions, and is also one of 30 teams in the Prospect League, a collegiate league, which covers 6 states and is sanctioned by the NCAA.  Mr. Barone commented, “The Prospect League has an impressive success rate of over 200 collegiate players moving up to play professional baseball.”  He continued, “The combination of an exciting new owner, the league’s history, and the great Jamestown community will revitalize baseball here.  Expect to see some great baseball played in Jamestown.”

According to Coach Anthony Barone who graduated from Jamestown High School in 1997 and played collegiate baseball, then went into coaching at the age of 23, Jamestown’s own Mayor Sam Teresi was instrumental in keeping baseball here in Jamestown.
