SWEDEN DISTRICT GOVERNOR ELECT MAKES UP IN JAMESTOWN

District Governor Elect Goren Samuelsson from Sweden visited the Rotary Club of Jamestown on January 26 on his way back home after the DG training out west.   He stopped in Jamestown to visit his cousin, Rotarian Donna Johnson, who is very active in Thule Lodge and the Scandinavian Festival.  (For those who are unfamiliar with the western part of New York, Jamestown is well populated by folks of Swedish and Italian descent).

Goran Samuelsson, who will be Governor 2015 - 2016 effective July 1, is from District 2340, Sweden.  He is a member of Orebro Rotary Club, Orebro Sweden.  There are approximately 90 members in his club and there are 5 clubs in Orebro.  District 2340 has a total of 50 clubs and approximately 2900 members.  He spoke briefly on the challenges they are facing in Sweden, many of which we are facing also - like aging, attracting younger members.  He also mentioned the changing demographics in Sweden and the influx of immigrants from impoverished countries in need of help.  Goran is looking forward to the upcoming year and the challenges of being Governor of District 2340.
