Happy New Year! Can you believe we are already halfway through the 2008 to 2009 Rotary year? When the Rotary year started, I had a number of Resolutions for the New Year that I referred to as my goals for the clubs and Rotarians of District 7090. I spent time sharing these with the incoming club Presidents and again with each of the clubs during my visits. I started my first visit in July and completed visit 73 in December. Now it is time for me and for you to take stock.

Here are the four goals once again. Ask yourself if you and your club are working towards their completion.

Each member of a District 7090 Rotary Club will evaluate his/her position on the continuum of the Rotary experience and explore ways to move along that continuum.

The district will increase overall membership by 204 through the institution of a varied membership increase based on club size: clubs over 70 will net 1 new member, clubs between 40 and 69 will net 2 new members, clubs between 25 and 39 will net 3 new members, and clubs under 25 will net 4 new members.

100% of district clubs will financially support The Rotary Foundation with a minimum contribution of $100 per member; and, the overall amount contributed to the Annual Programs Fund and the Permanent fund will increase by $70 000. All clubs will support PolioPlus. As well, clubs will increase member knowledge of The Rotary Foundation programs and strive to be part of a Matching Grant and/or a District Simplified Grant.

Each Rotary club will examine the nine service opportunities and ten structured programs on the RI website and select both local and international opportunities and programs that best fit the human and financial resources of each club.

When I met with the Board of Directors of each club I was pleased to see that the majority of clubs were aware of the goals and trying to achieve them. When you look at the goals in a holistic way, you will see that they are all interrelated and the continuum of the Rotary experience, membership, The Rotary Foundation, and Rotary programs and service opportunities all go together and are part of Rotary Awareness.
