HISTORIC HULL HOUSE GETS A DO-OVER

We have been very busy this spring! We painted the big red barn at the historic Hull House in Lancaster on May 14th. This was the site of the Underground Railroad, saving many people from the degradation of slavery through the end of the Civil War. The upper story was difficult but we did it!

The Depew Middle School breakfast on May 17th for those students who have shown exemplary characteristics towards others, was a true honor. We served the students a wonderful variety of hot breakfast items and saw them quickly consumed. Often, we forget how much teenagers can eat!

Our Rotary Park cleanup day on a breezy, warm May 21st brought out many of our members. We pulled weeds, removed unwanted foliage and planted beautiful flowers. I know that the residents of the Town of Lancaster appreciate looking at our colorful garden. We also “planted” a Rotary Little Library in our park which the Lancaster Library will keep full of books. It’s a great combined effort between two groups to benefit the community.

We are looking ahead to a busy June helping to host the visitors from Thailand, providing and serving ice cream to the graduating 8th grade class at the Aurora Middle School and our social meeting on June 30th. Everyone is welcome!
