A WHOPPING $$$$$$ COMMITMENT

At the special meeting of the Town of Lincoln Council held virtually on October 5, 2020, the Rotary Club of Lincoln committed financial support to the Town of Lincoln in the amount of $100,000.  This commitment goes towards the development of Rotary Park in Beamsville.  The initial $10,000 installment was made to council by Club Past President, Sue Foster.

The Rotary Club of Lincoln has had a vested interest in assisting the Town with developing community spaces for all ages, abilities, and interests. For several years, Lincoln Rotarians have been in regular contact with Town staff to discuss the club’s interest in partnering on a significant community project. Funded over a 10-year term, the $100,000 investment will be equally applied specifically to the skate park and children’s play equipment elements that will be featured in the park.

“The Council of the Town of Lincoln wishes to thank the Rotary Club of Lincoln for their generous donation of $100,000 towards the development of this park project”, says Mayor Sandra Easton. “This donation will assist with improving access for children and youth to participate and ensure that the park is appropriately outfitted with amenities for people of all ages, abilities and interests”. Mayor Easton noted that the Rotary Club of Lincoln has set a high standard in which community projects they choose to become involved with.  "We as a Council are very pleased they have decided to be a partner with us in the development of Rotary Park", she said.

“We are very grateful for the contribution the Rotary Club of Lincoln has made to this project,” said Mike Kirkopoulos, Lincoln’s Chief Administrative Officer. “The funds have allowed us to add much-needed elements to the park, including support towards the new skateboarding facilities. This partnership is an example of how well our community comes together to create beautiful and age-friendly spaces for all to enjoy and benefit from.”

“The Rotary Club of Lincoln membership are very proud that we are able to contribute to this park in the downtown core of our community”, says Sue Foster, Past President. “This donation would not have been possible without the support of Lincoln businesses and the community. By supporting various Rotary club fundraisers with sponsorship, participation and volunteerism, the community benefits from these signature project on an ongoing basis”, says Foster.
