CLUBS GET TOGETHER FOR LUNCH AND MORE

On April 14, the 10 Rotary clubs of the Niagara region held a joint luncheon hosted by the Rotary Club of St. Catharines Lakeshore.  President, Linda Landry, presided over the luncheon at the Holiday Inn in St. Catharines.  The guest speaker, Steve Ludzik, introduced by Rotarian Bob Miller, was a player, a coach, an author, an analyst and a philanthropist.

Ludzy as he’s affectionately known, was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2000.  He founded the Steve Ludzik Centre for Parkinson's Rehabilitation at the Hotel Dieu Shaver in St. Catharines. The center opened in 2003 and is supported by funding from his annual Celebrity Roast & Charity Golf Tournament. Steve is hopeful that there will be a cure within the next 5 years.  In appreciation and recognition of his humanitarian efforts, Steve was the recipient of the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow, the highest recognition given by Rotary.  The recognition was presented by District Governor Kevin Crosby.   District Governor Elect Marlee Diehl, drew the 50/50 ticket presenting the St. Catharines club’s Youth Exchange Student and Steve Ludzik with the proceeds.
