At our 'zoom' changeover, the Chair of our Presidents Advisory Committee, Rudi Atkinson announced Mary Mercato and Jim Simpson as the two newest RCNS members to be recognized as PHFs for their ongoing contributions;
Mary Mercato (pictured above) has been a RCNS member since 2017 and a leader on our Board since 2019. She has led the PR&C function and currently chairs the Community Service committee. If there is a fundraiser such as Take a Bite out of Norfolk or Bargains, Bling and Blarney on the go, you are certain to find Mary in the heat of the action. Mary is active in many volunteer activities in the community including St Vincent DePaul food basket delivery, a member of various community boards and a church volunteer. Mary’s generosity with her time to help others is admirable and works within the ideals of Rotary.
Jim Simpson has been a RCNS member since 2015 and a leader on our Board since 2016. He has led the Community Service Committee and currently looks after the PR&C function. Jim Simpson has been a powerhouse in redesigning the club
’s website and overseeing everything public relations. Volunteering his time in the community has included the ongoing renovations within Riversyde 83, as a church volunteer, as a Community Volunteer Income Tax team member as well as at support groups such as Habitat for Humanity. Jim is also our seed-club rep for the RI (Canada/Scotland) Curling Exchange.
