LIBRARY CEO RECOGNIZED FOR SERVICE

At the start of the Write for Fun Awards event held Saturday April 30, at the Port Dover Library, Nancy Sherwin of the Rotary Club of Norfolk Sunrise surprised Heather King, Norfolk County Public Library CEO, with a Paul Harris Fellow Recognition.  Heather exemplifies community service in her volunteer actions as well as her role as Library CEO.

She was a member of the fundraising team for the new Port Dover library branch in 2012-2013.  She believes in partnering with other organizations to meet her goals.  For example, she has partnered with the Norfolk County Fair to hold a book sale during the fair to raise awareness of the library and to raise funds for library operations.  She is a Board member of the Norfolk County Sports Hall of Recognition and the Port Dover-Woodhouse Community Foundation.  She worked as Media Relations contact for Annaliese Carr’s Lake Erie swim in 2014.  As Recreation Manager for the County prior to December 2013, she was the contact for KidSport Canada and the Canadian Tire Jump Start charity to support children’s activities.  She is active in her church, Woodhouse United, as member of several committees, and is a Licensed Lay Worship Leader in the United Church.  In her profession, she works hard to make Norfolk County libraries true community hubs.
