END POLIO NOW EVENT A SUCCESS

The Rotary Club of Salamanca's End Polio Now event was a huge success for this little club.  We always describe ourselves as small but powerful.  This could be seen as true at the latest End Polio Now event on St. Patrick’s Day in Salamanca.  Our club of (embarrassingly) 8 members, 2 of which were gone for the winter, packed the private party room of the Wildwood Bar and Grill in Salamanca...

A local band “Nearly Norman” provided live music. (Official name is Not Norman but one member was absent).  Norman has played free of charge for several years for us, because they support the cause.  The man who organizes the band is Barry Gan, a St. Bonaventure College professor.  His mother was a victim of Polio so he is well aware of the importance of the eradication efforts.
There was standing room only while it seemed the entire Salamanca Senior Center got up to dance!  Friends of Rotary, as well as our Rotary members, donated raffle baskets.  Irish Dancers as well as Bag Pipers also volunteered to entertain the community.

$1200 was raised and donated to the End Polio Campaign.
