LITTLE LENDING LIBRARY OPENS AT ANIMAL FARM

A crowd of Rotary Club of St. Catharines Lakeshore members, and grandkids, joined our Club’s Literacy Committee in opening the club’s first Little Lending Library (LLL) at Happy Rolphs Animal Farm. St. Catharines City Councillor Sal Sorrento also joined us to deliver remarks and congratulations on behalf of the City of St. Catharines.  Pictured left are Councillor Sal Sorrento and Rotary Club of St. Catharines Lakeshore President Elaine Richard.

In keeping with the theme of Happy Rolphs, the Library is focused on children’s books and is located at the parking lot entrance to the Pavilion and the Playground.  Families visiting Happy Rolphs are encouraged to “take a children’s book and leave a children’s book” in the spirit of Little Lending Libraries across the City.  Pictured left are Rotarians and guests.

Built by Club member Bob Birrell in Rotary colours, this Library was also sponsored by Home Depot (St Catharines) who supplied the materials, the Book Outlet who supplied the initial stock of books and the City of St Catharines who installed the Library on site. Partial financial support for the project came from the funds the Club earns through Delta Charity Bingo. Thanks to the Literacy Committee members for all their hard work and energy to encourage literacy and reading among kids in our community.  Pictured right Rotary grandchildren stock the Library.
