BLOOD DONATION # 4

Over 30 Rotarians, friends, and family saved almost 90 lives on Wednesday June 16 during International Blood Donor Week! Six first-time donors now know how easy and fulfilling the whole experience can be!

Under the direction of Committee Chair Beth, the Club has now done four group donations (every 3 months) for a total of approximately 80 blood units, or donations, over the past year. That equals close to 250 lives saved from our Club alone. The group started at 9 donors and has increased steadily as new donors come back, usually after their first visit.

Please contact Beth at bethfleeton@hotmail.com if you are interested in participating in our next event. Our group has grown to the point that we now require two nights in September (September 14/15) to ensure even more people can do their part, understanding that only 50% of Canadians can donate and only 4% do!! Did you know there's no maximum age to donate? We will be cross promoting this event with a local St. Catharines' business that also continuously gives back to the community (Soul Fire Yoga).

Canadian Blood Services and Blood St Catharines are taking notice of our growing group! Here’s a post from Canadian Blood Services:

Hello Rotary Club St. Catharines Lakeshore,

Thank you for the sincere generosity of your group. We would not be able to meet the constant demand for blood without organizations like yours. We are truly grateful for your continued support and for your partnership. Your dedication to helping others will help ensure patients in your community receive the gift of life! Together, we are Canada's Lifeline.

OVER 550 TINS DONATED

Food4Kids Tuna Drive Donates Over 550 Tins! It’s a big shout-out from Charlie the Tuna to the Rotary Club of St. Catharines.  Our recently ended canned tuna food drive netted 553 tins with an estimated value of $ 989.87! Thanks to all from Food4Kids Committee Chair Marlene.
