THAT TIME OF YEAR TO HONOR THE FANTASTIC AMONG US

On October 13th, 2022 at the St. Catharines Rotary Club meeting President Rick was pleased to honour Dr. Janice Giesbrecht with the a Paul Harris Fellow Award.
 
 
 
 
 
Dr. Giesbrecht  was a student at Waterloo University for an undergrad in Mathematic 1977. Then Graduate studies in Medical Biophysics at University of Toronto in cancer research at Princess Margaret Hospital. A Medical degree at McMaster was followed by an Internal Medicine Specialty and Medical Oncology sub Specialty.  She started her Medical Oncology Practice in St.Catharines in 1989 and became Chief of Oncology for Niagara Health and Medical Director for the Walker Family Cancer Clinic from 2010-2020. She has recently retired.
 
Janice has been actively involved in our community fundraising events for cancer care including the Big Move Cancer Ride and the Rankin Cancer Run as well as working closely with the Niagara Health Foundation. She was joined with her husband Gord Sisler,  also a Secord Grad. Together, they have 2 daughters and 3 Grandchildren.
 

MORE CELEBRATING ON OCTOBER 20TH

A good time was had by all members who attended this evening event. This was first large celebration since recovering COVID. Club Foundation Chair Trevor van Nest took the lead for the following Paul Harris recognitions: Margaret Jarrell and Chris Bangham.
 
Major Donor recognition was handed over to Scott Schappert by SandiChard - District Foundation Chair.
