SENIORS CORN ROAST

The Rotary Club of Waterdown hosted their annual Seniors Corn Roast on Monday August 30th.  Club members provided fresh corn and a BBQ for local seniors.

Typically, the event includes a gift raffle where the Rotarians donate various items and they are raffled off. That component was put on hold due to COVID-19, but this did not curtail over 30 local seniors from attending and enjoying the event.

The club owns and operates Rotary Garden Court, a small apartment housing complex for seniors that also serves for their regular club meetings.  The club likes to host this annual event to support these and other local seniors.

FOUR ... in Flamborough!

In partnership with the Flamborough Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club of Waterdown hosted their annual Flamborough Golf Open on Thursday September 9th.

The club and the chamber worked hard in this time of the pandemic to provide such a great event to local businesses and individuals.

The event was held at Flamborough Hills Golf & Country Club and was fully sold out with 126 golfers.  It was the best year ever for corporate sponsors with a record number of 14.  Total profits were $32,000 to be split between both organizations.  Of special note, the Rotary club kicked off their 50/50 draw with ticket sales on the par 3 fifth hole!  Nick Brown, the club’s Director of Fundraising shared, "We are very proud of this annual event and happy to have achieved this level of fundraising.

Short of a small drizzle during the afternoon, Mother Nature fully cooperated!".
